HUMBOLDT COUNTY PROCLAMATION FOR NO STRAW NOVEMBER!

It's official! Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a No Straw November Proclamation today! Supervisor Mike Wilson (3rd District) and Supervisor Ryan Sundberg (5th District) co-sponsored the No Straw November Proclamation. Thank you to Girl Scouts Hannah and Hope of Eureka for addressing the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors today, 10/24, on No Straw November and how a simple change of refusing single-use plastic straws can make a huge impact for our oceans, waterways and planet.

A little background on the co-sponsors of the Humboldt County No Straw November Proclamation. I met Supervisor Mike Wilson in September at the California Coastal Commission and he was very interested in learning more about No Straw November and how this could help his community take steps to reduce their plastic consumption. In addition to being a Humboldt County Supervisor, Supervisor Ryan Sundberg also serves on the California Coastal Commission who unanimously approved my No (Plastic) Straw November Resolution on 10/11/17.

Many thanks to this two Supervisors who brought forth the No Straw November Proclamation to Humboldt County in an effort to help retain this area of Northern California that is home to a beautiful ocean coastline and the famous California redwoods. The last thing you want to see when visiting this area is plastic pollution.

If you see the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors around town, give them a big "thank you" for caring so much about the future environment of Humboldt County.
