Honored to be selected as a 2018 Girl Scouts National Gold Award Recipient

I've been a Girl Scout for as long as I can remember. Ever since I heard my Girl Scout Troop leaders Ms. Suzan and Ms. Francesca talk about the Gold Award, I've been determined to earn Girl Scouts highest honor. Earlier this year, I completed my Gold Award journey with my sustainable project, Jr Ocean Guardians. It's been such a rewarding experience to reach so many people globally, and in turn, make positive change for our planet. It's been simply amazing, it has truly been the power of G.I.R.L. (Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk Taker, Leader).

And, more big news! On Thursday, International Day of the Girl, I will join 9 other amazing National Girl Scouts Gold Award recipients who will be honored at a Girl Scouts USA luncheon and two special United Nations events. Please take a moment to read more about the National Gold Award Girl Scouts recipients and their incredible Girl Scouts National Gold Award Projects.

I honestly could not have achieved the level of success without all of my supporters from all over the world. There are so many people to thank for taking the message of single-use plastic straws and plastic pollution to the masses. I will update my blog with my experience when I get a chance, it's a pretty busy week!

In the meantime, watch the Today Show on 10/11, and you might see me! I'll be there with 100 Girl Scouts from the New York area, as well as the National Girl Scouts Gold Award recipients. And, I'm working on a special assignment for Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast, be sure to check out their Instagram!

Thank you all for being #changemakers and making a huge difference in the world. Keep making waves!
